General information and application of Stabiterm-217
Stabiterm-217 fire protection thermally expanding coating for metal structures is a complex multicomponent system comprising a suspension of intumescent fillers, various functional additives, and pigments in a water-dispersed film former. The action of the composition is based on the intumescence of the applied coating under the influence of high temperatures and the formation of a porous heat-insulating layer. Stabiterm-217 fire protection thermal expanding coating is produced in the form of a dry mix and a homogeneous suspension.
It is used for fire protection of metal structures in industrial and civil construction. It is used indoors or outdoors under shelter. For the application of Stabiterm-217 fire protection coating in the open air, it is necessary to use Stabiterm-007 protective weather-resistant paint. It complies with the fire safety requirements set out in GOST R 53095-2009.

The surface, on which the composition is applied, should be free from dust, dirt, and old coatings. Prior to application of Stabiterm-217 fire protection coating, the surface should be primed with GF-021 primer, or Stabiterm-022 phosphating primer, or their analogs. In the case of using phosphating primer, the presence of corroded areas with sufficient adhesion to the metal surface is allowed.
Application of Stabiterm-217 fire protection composition on the metal surface may be performed using an airless sprayer, brush, and roller at an ambient temperature of not below +5°C and relative humidity of not more than 80%. Prior to application, the composition should be thoroughly mixed. During application, additional mixing is recommended to increase flowability. If necessary, it may be diluted with water to a working viscosity. The optimum thickness of the first layer is up to 500 µm. The thickness of the next layers may make up to 1000 µm. The coating is applied in 2-3 layers. Interlayer drying time is 3-6 hours at a temperature of +20°C. If the temperature decreases, drying time should be prolonged.
All application works should be performed in accordance with the guidelines established by GOST 12.3.035-84 “Occupational safety standards system. Construction. Painting. Safety requirements”. The composition does not emit substances harmful to human health and does not irritate the skin. In case of composition's contact with skin, rinse the area of contact with warm water and soap.
The service life of the coating is not less than 25 years in the heated space if the application and service conditions are observed. The service life of the coating is not less than 20 years in the open air if the application and service conditions are observed.
We recommend rinsing the tools and equipment used for the application with water before drying the composition.
Storage and transportation
The guaranteed shelf life in unopened original packaging is 12 months. Storage conditions are from +5°C to +40°C. Transportation of Stabiterm-217 is allowed by all types of transport that ensure the safety of packages, in accordance with the rules for the carriage of goods in force for these types of transport.
